“I Found Health Coverage That Works for Me”

To 60 year old William K., health coverage is important. “I have some health issues I need to stay on top of,” explains the Brooklyn resident, who commutes to full-time work in New Jersey. “I also want a wellness program and preventive care.”

With a Platinum-level health plan, William thought he had the coverage he needed.

That changed in the fall of 2015, when he learned that his plan would be discontinued. “I knew I had to take action,” he says.

A broker referred by his former insurer suggested a Gold-level plan for $530 a month. “Too high,” William said, “and it wasn’t Platinum coverage.”

While looking through the NY State of Health (NYSOH) Marketplace website, William saw the number for the CSS Navigator Network, and decided to call. “I wanted a second opinion on my coverage choices.”

William met with a CSS Navigator who answered all his questions and walked him through insurance options through the NY State of Health Marketplace.

With help from the Navigator, William selected a new, Platinum-level plan with an affordable monthly premium. “I can stick with my specialists, not worry about co-pays, and utilize wellness care that’s important to me.” He also notes that—unlike his former plan—his new coverage includes eye care and basic dental. Topping it off? There will be no gaps in his coverage.

William has this to say about working with a CSS Navigator. “Give CSS a call. The Navigators can explain your choices and the different coverage levels.  Working with a Navigator led me to a plan that works for me and that I would not have found on my own.”
