Bio

Michelle has over 20 years of experience working with public benefit programs. Having started out as the Director of the Advocacy, Counseling and Entitlement Services (ACES) project at CSS, she discovered her interest in understanding the nuances of public benefits and explaining them to others through trainings, publications, and case examples. As Director of ACES, she enjoyed working with volunteers who had a pulse on clients’ experiences and needs, and who were determined to explore every possible resource to benefit fellow New Yorkers. During her time away from CSS, she continued her work in the health insurance arena, focusing on health insurance programs for elderly and disabled individuals, with a focus on programs to assist those with limited incomes. She continued to work with volunteers who were committed to assisting clients with benefit information and other programs to meet their needs. 

As the Director of the Benefits Plus Learning Center (BPLC), Michelle continues her work with sharing benefits information and “outside the benefits box” tools to social service providers in a collaborative environment.
