Bio

As a Staff Attorney with the Legal Department, Martha focuses on re-entry issues and works exclusively with directly impacted individuals. Martha assists CSS clients in navigating the varied legal barriers to economic security. Part of this work involves empowering jobseekers with the information necessary to advocate on their own behalf while also holding employers accountable for their discrimination practices. As part of the Next Door Project team, Martha provides know your rights workshops, rap sheet repair, and off-site legal services to our partner organizations, The Association of Community Employment Programs (ACE) and Hour Children. She comes to CSS from Queens Defenders, where she served as a public defender for seven years and zealously represented Queens residents in both misdemeanor and felony cases. Prior to law school, she was a New York City Teaching Fellow and taught high school social studies. Martha is a 2014 graduate of CUNY Law School.
