Bio

Alia Winters is responsible for promoting CSS's work and policy agenda through strategic online communications and publications. She also oversees technology planning initiatives and chairs an interdepartmental team tasked with implementing priority technology projects, particularly in the areas of database design, website design and maintenance, and staff collaboration and productivity. She first joined CSS in 2003 as the Special Assistant to David R. Jones, where she served as liaison to the Board of Trustees and supported the agency's strategic planning initiatives. Previously, she was an editor at Cambridge University Press, where she oversaw publishing in the areas of Sociology, African Studies, and Criminal Justice. She is a graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University and has received training in nonprofit management from Milano the New School for Urban Policy and Management and the United Way of New York City's Nonprofit Leadership Development Institute.
