When the Police Ignore the Law: Racialized Policing at Turnstile

Summary: After months of ignoring a city law that requires the NYPD to publish detailed reports on fare evasion enforcement, the police finally released a very limited data set. This report looks at both how this release does not comply with the law as passed, and examines what this incomplete data does show, and while the overall number of fare evasion enforcement actions are down, there are still troubling patterns in there application.
