What grade do New Yorkers give the city's public schools? Our 2022 Unheard Third Survey asked respondents to grade their local schools using the common “A to F” letter grading system, with “A” signifying excellent and “F” meaning failure.

Overall, New Yorkers have a less positive perception of their local schools compared to the nation overall. Among New Yorkers with children, more than one in three gave NYC public schools a "C" or "fair" grade.
